Activities before moving:
- Pick up change of address kit from post office and notify address change to all relevant parties (bank, family, friends, insurance, credit card companies, previous employer, social security, etc)
- Ensure for pick up of important documents and records and pack them in one place (birth, legal, doctor, veterinarian, mortgage, passports, stocks, titles, etc)
- Decide which items will go to the new home, which will be sold or donated, which will go to storage.
- Create inventory of items to be moved, coordinate the purchase of moving insurance if valuables justify the cost.
- Choose moving company and coordinate the moving service (pack, move, unpack)
- Make arrangements for cleaning and repair of old home, as required.
Activities for moving day and after move:
